Going on a hike? There’s an app for that
Attention Florida hikers and nature lovers: planning a trip to a Florida State Park just got a whole lot easier. Drop the maps and pull out those smartphones because now, there’s an app for that. The Florida Park Service has teamed up with the ParksbyNature Network and Pocket Ranger to launch a free app with interactive guides for each of the 171 state parks and trails. Information including park maps, activities and amenities make up this unique outdoor guide for Floridians. Users can instantly locate parks, record trails, share photos, use a built-in compass and even find friends within the parks, all with the simple tap of a finger. The app is now available for download on iTunes, the Android Market and at PocketRanger.com.
