Healthy Kids Program

Parents in Flagler, Putnam and Suwannee counties with children ages 3 to 7 will have the opportunity to engage in a nutritional lifestyle program aiming to establish healthy eating habits for their children.

The Healthy Kids Program is part of a University of Florida study designed to promote better nutrition for children facing the risk of obesity. The four months of group meetings will include fun activities for kids, sampling of healthy foods and lessons to teach families how to tackle life’s nutritional needs in a beneficial way. Strategies on how to motivate children to eat their veggies and get plenty of exercise will be a central topic for parents.

Meetings will be held at the UF/IFAS Cooperative Extension offices in participating counties. There is no cost for participation, and families will be given $10 at every session for travel costs. The program launches in May, and parents interested in participating can call 1-866-673-9623.
